![]() Multi-projectile attacks are often spells, and they often do multiple attack rolls. Generally, DnD damage is dependent on weapon, you could use this to inform your decision. So it’s up to you on what kind of… meta effect you want it to have for your players Do you want it to waste people in seconds, causing a (hilarious) panic at the table as the PCs scramble for cover, or do you want it to just be a funny thing that the PCs can survive, with maybe the same lethality as a typical round of attacks.īringing the real worlds realism into basically any game of DnD won’t ever really work, IMO. So I would suggest making the gun as dangerous as you want it to be. But that still doesn’t show the scale of HP well because HP won’t ever be realistic. People IRL die from 1 bullet, and some people get shot 12 times and don’t die, due to luck, due to good surgeons, etc. A commoner can take maybe 1-2 with average damage rolls. A PC with even only a few levels can take several fire bolts or eldritch blasts before going down. Commoners have a handful of HP, and that works well to show the heroes as being very durable. Because HP isn’t really any kind of realistic measurement of anything. The argument that it would be devastating and the argument that it wouldn’t be as bad are both valid. The other comments in this comment section are all good- but I ask you to think about it in perhaps a different light. Honestly, it can be as powerful as you want it to be.
