![]() ![]() Neutron processes all input channels equally when used on surround tracks. The LFE Bypass button only appears when Neutron is instantiated on a surround sound track that includes an LFE channel (5.1 or 7.1, for example). When using Compressor 1 and Compressor 2 in series, adjusting the output gain of Compressor 1 allows you to manage the signal level going into Compressor 2, allowing for greater control over how Compressor 2 affects your sound. This is also useful for managing the signal level as it passes to the input of the next module in the signal chain. Output GainĪllows you to adjust the amount of gain applied to the signal after compression, to make up for any loss or increase in level caused by dynamics processing. Knee is not adjustable in Vintage mode, as it scales with the Threshold control. In Vintage mode, the Attack reacts much more quickly (indeed, an UREI 1176 is capable of very low Attack times) but then begins to ease in, which sounds punchier, but less transparent than the Digital mode. When Vintage Mode is selected, VU meters display the gain reduction for each active band. Where Digital is a more transparent, surgical compressor, Vintage is more colorful, emulating a number of sonic behaviors from a variety of beloved older analog compressors. When Digital Mode is selected, a gain reduction trace meter displays gain reduction for the currently selected band. You can set the mode used by the compressor by toggling the “Vintage Mode” button. Neutron’s Compressor is capable of two very different styles of compression, Digital and Vintage mode. Neutron features two Compressor modules capable of multiband compression, flexible sidechaining options and useful visual feedback. Compressors can reduce the dynamic range of a signal by decreasing the level of sounds that exceed a certain threshold level (referred to as “downward” compression) or by increasing the level of signals that fall below a certain threshold level (referred to as “upward” compression). Dynamic range can be thought of as the difference between the quietest and loudest levels of a signal. Neutron 2 is the next chapter of this technology, incorporating communication and control through the Visual Mixer, Tonal Balance Control, and Mix Tap.Ī compressor allows you to reduce the dynamic range of an audio signal. With Neutron 2, we give you the ability to connect to Ozone 8 through Tonal Balance Control, which begs the question, “Do these two worlds collide?” Our answer is yes, most definitely.Ĭross-connectivity between our products began with the innovation of the Masking Meter in Neutron’s EQ. iZotope recognizes that the landscape of mixing and mastering in-the-box is starting to change. Mixing, mastering, and audio production all occur at the same time with the same hands. While concepting Neutron 2 and Ozone 8, we noticed that the entire process for most creatives takes place in a single workflow. Our hope is that this product helps you overcome insurmountable sonic barriers and ignites your creative ambitions. Neutron 2 is the contemporary approach to the age old practice of audio mixing. Features like the Tonal Balance Control, Visual Mixer, and Masking Meter adhere to those philosophies and break us out of the typical mixing paradigms that so many of us have followed for decades. With Neutron 2 we spared no expense to deliver a set of new features that give you the ability to be more creative, visualize your music in new ways, and assist you with better sound. If you overheard these discussions you might hear questions like, “Does this enable customers to be creative? Does this inspire users to achieve their goals?” iZotopians entangle in these talks because of their hunger for crafting new and innovative audio experiences for you, the individuals who rely on these tools for creativity. That idea sparks conversations that echo throughout the hallways of iZotope’s HQ. Neutron 2 uses the latest technological advancements in audio analysis and machine learning to provide you with a powerful mixing plug-in for starting and finishing your music with confidence. Welcome to Neutron 2, the next generation of iZotope’s powerful mixing plug-in.
